"He went on his way rejoicing!"

God moved a man from Ethiopia to go to Jerusalem where he picked up a book of the Bible. Then God moved Philip to meet this man and ask if he understood what he was reading. He puzzled, “How can I, unless someone explains it to me?” Starting with this, Philip told him the good news about Jesus. When this man returned home, the church grew up in Africa.

Now God has moved people from Africa, Central and South America and other parts of the world to our hometown and they have come to our churches, where they find the truth of the Bible. God has put Good Shepherd Lutheran School in a position meet the needs of those who want someone to explain the Bible for their children and tell them the good news about Jesus. These children will be prepared to be the future leaders of the church in these ethnic communities while they are here and when they return to their homelands.

Good Shepherd Lutheran School began with a four kindergarteners in the fall of 2005. For September 2006, two more teachers have been added to teach grades one through six. So far, enrollment has increased eightfold. This is a wonderful blessing but also presents a great financial challenge. One third of the student body is from Somali or Hispanic homes where English is not the primary language. Good Shepherd Lutheran School is determined not to exclude these and other children of low income and single parent families from receiving a quality Christian education at a Lutheran School. Your help is needed and invited for this wonderful opportunity.

The cost of education is $3,000 per student. You can help by sponsoring a student or providing a part of the tuition each month. Through the Thrivent “giving plus” program you can increase the value of your gift by 50%. Write your check to “Good Shepherd Lutheran School”. Invite your friends to join you in making a gift.
